How we're different
Target market fit
Mindbody
Mindbody's core product and go-to-market are built around fitness classes: yoga studios, pilates, CrossFit, and general wellness. The consumer marketplace app is valuable because it has built a large audience of wellness consumers actively searching for services. But the platform's workflows — class packs, instructor payroll, retail inventory, franchise management — are oriented toward studios, not solo massage practitioners. Massage therapists who use Mindbody frequently report that the system is far more complex than their needs require.
Our approach
Built specifically for massage therapists and manual therapy practices. Every workflow — scheduling, clinical documentation, intake forms, access control — is designed around how massage practitioners actually work, not adapted from a fitness studio product.
Pricing transparency
Mindbody
Mindbody does not publish pricing on its website. Pricing is available only after a sales conversation. Reports from users and third-party reviews suggest entry pricing well above comparable massage-specific platforms, with significant differences between plan tiers. Annual contracts are standard. Cancellation is reportedly difficult.
Our approach
Pricing not yet announced. Transparent, publicly listed pricing is a baseline commitment — no sales call required to understand what something costs.
Consumer marketplace
Mindbody
Mindbody's consumer app is a genuine differentiator for businesses that want exposure to its large user base. Consumers can discover, compare, and book services across Mindbody's network of businesses. For a new spa or studio looking for client acquisition, this has real value.
Our approach
No consumer marketplace currently planned. Client acquisition via organic search (SEO), referrals, and direct booking is the focus. A marketplace can create dependency on the platform's algorithm for client flow, which reduces a practitioner's leverage over their own business.
Clinical documentation
Mindbody
Mindbody's documentation tools are minimal. It is not built for SOAP notes, clinical charting, or any of the documentation workflows that define massage therapy practice. It works for tracking visits, memberships, and payments, but not for the clinical side of a massage practice.
Our approach
Full clinical documentation is planned as a core feature: SOAP notes, customizable templates, body diagram charting, intake forms with contraindication flagging, and AI-assisted charting.
Access control
Mindbody
Standard RBAC. For multi-location enterprise businesses, Mindbody offers location-level administrative controls. It is not designed for the fine-grained per-record access policies that clinical practice requires.
Our approach
ABAC built into the data model. Clinical records are protected by runtime policy evaluation — not checkbox permissions — from the first day of operation.
