Jane App
Jane's clinical documentation is the most comprehensive of any platform here. AI Scribe lets practitioners dictate sessions and produces structured SOAP notes automatically. Treatment plans track patient progress over time with outcome measurements. Insurance billing produces superbills suitable for direct submission or patient reimbursement. Body diagram charting with drawing tools is built for the kind of clinical documentation a physiotherapist or chiropractor would expect.
Our approach
For pure massage practice, the majority of Jane's clinical depth is more than most practitioners need — and you're paying for it in the base price. Our clinical documentation is planned to match the needs of massage therapists specifically: precise SOAP notes, body charts, intake forms with contraindication flagging, and AI-assisted charting where it genuinely saves time. The goal is clinical rigor without clinical overhead.
Insurance billing
Jane App
Jane supports insurance billing and superbill generation out of the box on the Practice tier and above. For practitioners working with insurance or who need documentation for client reimbursement, this is a genuine advantage.
Our approach
Insurance billing is planned. The access control architecture makes it more tractable: billing staff can access financial records without accessing clinical notes; practitioners can access clinical notes without accessing billing. In systems without that separation, insurance billing features often require awkward workarounds to keep PHI from leaking to the wrong role.
Telehealth
Jane App
Jane includes integrated telehealth (video sessions) on all plans, including Balance. This is useful for consultations, intake sessions, and follow-ups.
Our approach
Virtual/telehealth sessions are planned. Physical massage requires in-person presence, but consultations, pre-session intake discussions, and follow-up care are genuinely useful as video options.
Per-practitioner cost
Jane App
Jane's per-practitioner fees are the highest of any platform compared here. A Practice plan with 3 therapists costs $79 + 2×$35 = $149/month. Thrive with 3 therapists costs $99 + 2×$40 = $179/month. For a growing multi-therapist practice, Jane becomes the most expensive option significantly faster than its base price suggests.
Our approach
Pricing model not yet announced. Per-seat fees that scale linearly with headcount create a disincentive to grow. The access control architecture means we can support fine-grained per-practitioner capabilities without forcing every practice to pay for the most permissive model.
Access control
Jane App
Jane uses standard RBAC. The role set (owner, practitioner, admin, scheduling only) covers common configurations but does not support per-record or per-field policies. A practitioner can be granted access to the schedule without clinical notes, but there is no mechanism to grant access to one patient's chart while restricting another's.
Our approach
ABAC from the data model up. Access decisions evaluate who is asking, which record, which field, which action. The policies that govern what a practitioner sees can be scoped to their own patient population. This matters most in multi-therapist clinics where therapist–client relationships vary, and in any practice that takes client privacy seriously.
Massage-specific features
Jane App
Jane is built for multi-discipline health clinics — physiotherapy, chiropractic, occupational therapy, massage, and mental health. It covers massage adequately but does not have the massage-specific scheduling features (outcall, couples massage, on-call availability, gap minimization) that massage-focused platforms prioritize. Its directory and marketing tools are minimal.
Our approach
Massage-first by design. The scheduling engine, SOAP note defaults, intake form templates, and marketing tooling are built for massage therapists and their actual workflows — not adapted from a physiotherapy product.
